This Saturday, July 27, a tweet from the journalist reading “Everyone is AFC” as well as images confirmed the information of the joining of the renowned Congolese journalist, Magloire Paluku, to the ranks of the Congo River Alliance (AFC) led by the former president of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) of the DRC, Corneille Nangaa. The images show the former advisor to the Ministry of Culture, in military uniform, alongside Bertrand Bisimwa, president of the M23, and Corneille Nangaa, founder of the AFC.

For several weeks, rumors had been circulating in the Congolese media about this alliance, but no official confirmation had been obtained in the absence of concrete evidence such as images, tweets or public statements. The National Press Union of Congo even withdrew Magloire Paluku's journalist status during a meeting held in Goma on July 10, following speculation about his joining the AFC, considered the political branch of the movement. of March 23 (M23).

In one of his last public interventions, Magloire Paluku published a video on social networks criticizing the inability of the Kinshasa government to end the armed conflict in eastern DRC. In this video, the journalist suggested that the government engage in dialogue with the M23 rebels to reduce the number of victims.

The DRC Ministry of Justice has launched legal proceedings against Corneille Nangaa and others involved. The name of Magloire Paluku is among the twenty accused on the run, cited by the public prosecutor. The 25 defendants are accused of terrorism, treason and war crimes against the Democratic Republic of Congo. Among them, only five are currently detained and appearing before the Kinshasa-Gombe military court.
